    Description

    W.C. Pitzer (20th/21st century), bronze, Ram Dancer, #2/10, on custom round wood pedestal, From Lawrence Gallery Taos N.M., total height 75 inches, bronze only height 40 inches.  SIGNED "W.C. PITZER '85".  According to Dwight Hacket, Pitzer only made 4 of these before destroying the mold in a depressed state and committing suicide.
    **INCLUDED IN THIS SALE WILL BE THE ORIGINAL THANK YOU LETTER FROM W.C. PITZER TO THE ORIGINAL BUYER FROM PITZER ABOUT 1 YEAR BEFORE HE TRAGICALLY TOOK HIS LIFE, as well as a letter from the buyer to a museum.  Pitzer tragically ended his life in the fall of 1988 and destroyed all of his molds for all of his sculptures.  Also in the letter Pitzer explains how the bronze came about in his mind and the inspirations around him that helped him sculpt this masterpiece.  The original buyer paid ,200 for this piece from the E.S. Lawrence Gallery, Taos, New Mexico.  The letter included in this lot is from the original owner to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum with a sale proposal.
    This bronze would be a valued addition to any collection.
