“La Bottega Del Vasari” was founded by Giovanni (Gianni) Inclimona, an artist who traces his ancestry to the renowned 16th Century Italian Renaissance artist and architect Giorgio Vasari.  Gianni Inclimona, called il “Vasari”, began in Milano, Italy 35 years ago reproducing glorious armies and battles of the past which subsequently became chess sets faithful to historic battles.
“La Bottega del Vasari” is one of the few workshops that still operate according to the ancient dictates of craftsmanship, with a production that is linked to an illustrious and never faded tradition.  The artisan sculptor, Gianni Inclimona, known as the “VASARI” was able, with his works, to direct her to a level of high professionalism, so much so as to make her conquer a prominent place in the panorama of small sculpture.  His many exhibitions around the world have always aroused admiration and approval from the public, critics and collectors.  The works of “La Bottega del Vasari” are inspired by contents of various origins, history, mythology, international folklore and customs.  They are single sculptures and overall creations, always outlined in a very precious elaboration.
This limited edition set comes complete with 32 game pieces and a marble game board 20.5” x 20.5” weighing approximately 35-40 pounds.  Game pieces are 4.4” - 5.8” in height and are made of bronze, finished with gold and silver.  The processing of each sculpture is carefully followed at every stage by Gianni  Inclimona personally, starting from the creation of the model to the casting in bronze or silver, to the chiseling and the application of gold and silver, with the exclusive two-tone effect of “La Bottega del Vasari”.  Each game piece, like all his other works, is hallmarked and guaranteed by certificates attesting their originality.  A certificate of authenticity, personally signed by Gianni Inclimona is included in this sale.
The same set was listed at London Gallery in San Francisco for ,800 several years ago.  You can view a Vasari chess set by googling “ you tube video Michael Jackson playing chess with son Prince”.  Each piece including the board are in excellent condition with very minor tarnishing to some of the pieces which comes with aging.
