This authentic  stunning   sacred   sculpture  by  acclaimed  Italian  artist  Professore  Eugenio  Pattarino  ..Florence , Italy   1885-1971,,,,,,,

Hand signed in gold   by  Professor Pattarino,,,,,signed Prof  E   Pattarino , Italy   on the bottom and  numbered 501
15 1/2  inches high
From  the bodywork, movement and musculature on  this  Saint .....  to  his  expression and  the  multicolor  and  gold polychrome in  his vestements, armour  and  sword... contrasting with the  white chiseld features, skin  and most expressive face.....absolutely  masterful.
Professor  Pattarino  studied  art in Florence,  Venice  and  Frankfurt,,,,,He  created    wonderful  and highly collectible   porcelain  terracota figures  and sculptures  in  his  studio  in Florence near the Ponte  Vecchio  bridge  before retiring  in   1966.
Saint Sebastian,,,a  Christian  Saint  and  Martyr is invoked  in protection  against the plague/or present day   covid......
also  St, Sebastian is the.... Patron Saint  of  Athletes!
This  most  powerful  and  dramatic  sculpture  has  been in our collection for years  and  came originally from the  acclaimed religious  artifact  collection of  the famed New  Orleans  novelist  Anne  Rice.
Good  condition.....two  fingers broken at the half point,,, in the right hand tied  behind his back , as  noted in photos,,very  realistic for the  scene  though....could it have happened  in the  struggle?
And the  very tip of  the  arrow   in his  right  rib cage,,,this   tiny little   piece broke off,,( I  have  piece)..this can be  seen in photos.
