Original Lomonosov State Porcelain Factory figurine sculpture of the Russian baritone Pateleimon Nortsov as Eugene Onegin.  This piece bears the number "1C" on the base for "first choice" and is in impeccable condition.
The sculpture was designed in 1939 by the Russian artist Ily Slonym and produced by the famed Russian porcelain factory in 1961.
An example of the sculpture has been exhibited at the Pushkin Museum in Russia and the Hillwood Estate Museum in Washington, DC.
This item has come up twice at auction in recent years, at Sotheby's in 2014 with an estimate of ,512-,350 and in 2016 Lempertz in Berlin with an estimate of 1,500-2,000 Euros.

Nortsov (1900-1993) was considered to be the leading Onegin in Russia of the 20th Century.  He was chiefly associated with the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow as of 1925 to 1954.  Nortsov also sung many of the lyrico-spinto baritone roles there, Germont Pere, Di Luna, Silvio, Don Giovanni, Figaro (Nozze), Valentin, Escamillo among others and Russian roles like Mazeppa, Yeletsky and Onegin which he sung over 600 times during his career.  Nortsov also taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1962 until his death at the age of 93.
Uncommon and in an edition, however, the specific number of pieces made, we have not been able to ascertain.
