Titled "A Dance for two" is a 3D relief wood carving by Max Mougel 1895-1998. An American artist most famously known for his etchings and sculptures. Mougel was born in NYC and is strongly associated with the WPA artists of the 30's. Mougel is listed in the Smithsonian Institute, National Gallery of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art among many others.
The size measures 16" X 16" X 2" thick framed. The actual rendition is 15 X15". and the relief is approx. 3/8ths inches. The wood tones are exquisite giving a real depth and feeling to the piece. The surface finish is pristine with no visible damage. It has been well cared for.
I do not have great lighting available to capture the true tones, hues and feelings this picture presents, but if interested I will take more under various lighting
It is quite apparent that this work required many many hours of work. There is no measurable pricing guidelines available. it was once conveyed for 250.00
