    Description

THE FINAL CHARGE Chief Roman Nose
This fine art sculpture is a Signed, Certified Limited Edition of 750 -- limited to only 750 pieces.  This is Limited Edition #165 of 750.
Stunning detail.  Depicts Cheyenne Warrior Roman Nose who, as a young man, was given a special war bonnet with eagle feathers by a medicine man.  He was told the war bonnet would protect him from his enemies' arrows and bullets provided he obeyed strict taboos and carried out certain rituals.  For example, he was warned that if he ate anything touched by metal he would be killed in his next battle.  Later in life (September 1868), he inadvertently ate something touched by metal and as predicted, Roman Nose was killed in his next battle.
This sculpture is the sixth release from the Legendary West Premier Collection.
This sculpture was made in 1991, issued in March 1992 and sold out by June 1992.  It is no longer in production.
Marble base shows personally handwritten signature of C. A. Pardell (see photo).

LEGENDS BRONZES WILL BECOME PRICELESS IN THE FUTURE. THE LEGENDS FOUNDERED PIECES MAY BE ONE OF THE LAST FOUNDERED MIXED METAL BRONZES EVER OFFERED. THECHILMARK FOUNDRY IS GONE, THE LEGENDS FOUNDRY IS GONE, MOST OF THE MONTANA FOUNDRYS ARE GONE, FEDERAL REGULATIONS, AND THE COST OF LABOR ARE MAKING IT TO HARD TO MAKE MONEY. THE LEGENDS PIECES WILL BE IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY IN THE NEXT 20 YEARS, WITH ALMOST NO PIECES ON THE MARKET LEAVING THE WESTERN ART MARKET WITH NO BRONZES. SOME ARE TRYING TO SELL PLASTIC, GLASS AND OTHER PIECES TODAY, BUT THE CHINA FACTORYS CAN MAKE THESE. THEY ARE NOT FOUNDERED MIXED METAL. MIXED METAL REQUIRES THE FOUNDRY TO FIRST FOUNDER THE PIECE, CHASE THE MOLDS, GRIND AND POLISH EDGES, THEN BACK TO HEATED FOUNDERING FOR GOLD, SILVER. AFTER THAT THEY HAVE TO CHASE AND POLISH. THE LAST STEP IS TO PAINT AND THEN HEAT THE PIECE AGAIN. THESE ARE WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, AND HARD TO MAKE. 100 YEARS FROM NOW THEY WILL BE THE REMINGTONS OF OUR TIME.
What is in this Mixed Media sculpture?:
It is a combination of various fine metals such as lost wax bronze, fine pewter, brass, copper, 24 karat gold vermeil and various hot torched acid patinas such as black nickel, rose copper, and turquoise, to highlight the sculpture. In addition, the sculpture may contain embellishments such as Lucite.
    About Christopher Pardell:
Christopher Pardell began sculpting at the tender age of four, and by his teenage years, Pardell had come to the realization that sculpting was to become his life's work. Influenced by the work of renowned sculptors Russell, Remington and Rodin, Pardell wanted to pursue his passion for realism. His formal education was laid aside in favor of an apprentice moldmaker position with a commercial statuary company, and it was there that he received what he considers to be his "real education in art." As an apprentice to the Italian master artisans who ran the statuary, Christopher rapidly learned the skills that would enable him to excel as an artist and earn the stature that has come with his success. Never sketching his designs on paper, Christopher composes all of his work in three dimensions, in a maquette. This unique approach explains the unparalleled beauty and detail that are the trademarks of his work. Christophers exceptional style and special talent have served to impress even the most discriminating collector. Currently, his artwork can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
