Carl Lewis Pappe (Hungarian, 1900-1998).
Pappe was an American-trained artist who settled in Mexico. His work exhibits elements of European modernism and shows the artist's underlying understanding of and interest in pre-Columbian art. Pappe trained at the Cleveland School of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
