ANTIQUE “WWI Spirit of the American Doughboy” STATUE SCULPTURE E.M. VIQUESNEY
~RARE~I know others sold for much lower prices and feel that those folks made a ridiculous serious mistake! This is a sculpture of a FAMOUS STATUE placed all over the USA and the SAME Sculptor ALSO SCULPTED these small versions!!
Original ENORMOUS LARGE Statues were sculpted by Ernest Moore (E.M.) Viquesney (1876-1946), Sculptor>>

.
The public liked the Statues so much that they asked Viquesney to make smaller versions they could place in their homes. So, Lamps were made
http://doughboysearcher.weebly.com/the-american-doughboy-art-lamp.html
as well as "Statuettes"
http://emvarchive.weebly.com/doughboy-statuette-ads.html
.
E.M. Viquesney designed this one as a small "statuette"
because there are no holes in the hand for a Lamp attachment.
From my brief research, this small statue appears to have also been sculpted by E.M. Viquesney sometime during the 1920's.
Measures approximately:
10.5" tall may have been more if still attached to the base.
Condition:
Looks as if this piece was on a base, but came unattached--I do
not
have the base. I have been told that the Bayonet is missing. Statue appears to be metal of some kind with a Black paint finish. The black paint has come off in various areas. Statue is dusty and needs to be cleaned. You'll be able to see that at the bottom of the boots, they've come unattached from a base of some kind.
Item sold "AS-IS"--
see photos.
