Up for auction is this
exquisite
antique J. Curts Vienna Austria bronze sculpture/cigarette holder ash tray in beautiful vintage condition without damage.
This peasant girl with dog sculpture/ashtray is marked with the J Curts Fec or Fee signature.
Not sure what the Fee or Fec stands for but could be the foundry where crafted.
"J. Curts"
and in some cases "Karl Thenn"
is the pseudonym name of the well recognized and listed Austrian sculptor/artist Karl Kauba who worked for different foundries in Vienna. Experts believe he used these other names possibly for copyright reasons.
It's not uncommon to find identical sculptures with any one of these 3 signatures.
This lovely, unique and very charming sculpture appears to also be what looks like a cigarette holding ashtray.
The little young girl peasant Shepheard and her companion dog are wonderfully well executed and detailed. They are standing in front of a brick structure that could represent a water well in front of a reservoir, with "water spouts" that makes the ashtray. I'm assuming unused cigarettes or matches would be placed in the brick wall compartment behind her.
The unattached chain holding her bull horn water bottle is assumed to be bronze with
gold tone finish
.

, this rare and very fine art sculpture/ cigarette holder ashtray will look great in any Vienna Bronze or Karl Kauba sculpture collection or even in any other related collection that you see fit.
