Heavy bar/pub sign “THE ABYSSINIAN “ Architectural Salvage c.1911-1938 . This is an outdoor sign in excellent condition. It is comprised of some rustproof metal to handle the English weather without deteriorating. Heavy 50+ pounds. It is ALL metal. (Save money with local pickup if you can. ) Two sided but one side is more weathered. Artist name ?? “Champion “ in lower right corner. Solid meat hooks on top to secure to outdoor horizontal pole. WENLOCK ENGLAND hosted the first modern day olympics in 1850 . The ABYSSINIAN pub / beer hall ceased to exist by 1936. The address was 18 Spencer Road. The pub was registered in 1911 and Henry Hirst was the beer keeper. A Thomas Hirst was a local beer keeper since 1896. Such a cool looking item. Capable of handling the harshest of outdoor conditions but would be an amazing one of a kind indoor focal point. Nobody is gonna show off another one. Happy bidding.
